With only a week and a half left until the long-delayed Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince finally hits theaters, media outlets are jumping on every angle possible to cash in on Pottermania. Most recently, James Parker from The Atlantic examined the different approaches each Potter director has taken in adapting the books for the screen, which another Atlantic writer took to task in a blog on Tuesday.Alyssa Rosenberg wrote that ''the problem of keeping the Harry Potter movies fresh as filmmakers tackle the later books and deal with their characters' development into sexually mature adults'' is because ''J.K. Rowling, for all that she's created a compelling universe, is really awful at writing about adult sexual and romantic relationships.''Uh...wha? Last time I checked, the Harry Potter books were a children's series. Sure, the audience grew up as the characters aged, but this is not adult fiction. And I mean that in both respects of the term: The books aren't targeted toward adults, and they're not supposed to contain graphic descriptions of a sexual nature.Rosenberg makes two main points. First, ''in Rowling's universe, everyone ends up with their first real love.'' Okay, well, this is a fantasy series. The hero defeats the villain in the end. Is there a problem with that, too? Second, Rowling never gives ''a single detailed description of any adult sexual relationship.'' What Rosenberg forgets is that although they're third person, these are fairy tales told from a teenager's perspective. Despite illusions to the contrary, teenagers don't actually have adult relationships. We're following 11- to 17-year-old Harry, not an older, wiser narrator. Rowling doesn't ever give a single detailed description of any adult relationship, sexual or otherwise, because teenage Harry wouldn't really pick up on the complexities of the Weasleys' marriage. Besides, do we want detailed scenes about what happens in those canopied Hogwarts beds? This is a book about wizards. If you want romance, look for a paperback with Fabio on the cover.As for the films, why do they have to be sexy at all? It's not like people were clamoring for a Prince Caspian/Susan flirtation in the second Chronicles of Narnia movie. The fact that there is even a sex issue baffles me. Is it because a movie needs to have some form of sexual tension to sell tickets? (Tell that to box office smash Up.) Is it because the stars themselves are pretty foxy? (The producers must've let out a heaving sigh of relief when their cherubic young child stars grew into attractive young adults.) As far as I'm concerned, Rowling's glossing-over of the subject matter would have suited the movies just fine.Why do you think the directors have sexed up the later Harry Potter movies? Are you fine with Rowling's interpretation of adult relationships in the Potterverse, or do you think the books should have gotten a little more complex? Are you baffled that the sex issue is actually an issue at all? Or do you think a more realistic depiction of teenage sexuality is necessary for the films to connect with audiences?

After you’ve seen Revenge of the Fallen more than a couple of times (gee...all those negative reviews drastically affected its opening weekend as NOBODY bothered to see it) and contemplate what kind of Higher power would force you to see John Turturro’s ass and not Megan Fox’s, you can shuck off the kids to Ice Age 3 (or just leave them at home) and check out Miami Vice creator Michael Mann’s new crime biopic Public Enemies.Not because it has Johnny Depp.Not because it has Christian Bale.But because it has Stephen Dorff in a decent supporting role (World Trade Center doesn’t count), not because he’s such a great actor or anything, but it shows that someone actually survived 2005’s atrocious Alone in the Dark intact and survived to make a movie that more than 12 people will see and remember with something other than rancor or sardonic laughter. Sorry to bring up Alone in the Dark while you’re eating dinner. Or maybe if you’re not eating dinner right now, I’m guessing you were planning to eat something today and I’ve just ruined your appetite.If your mind has its proper survival instincts intact, it’s probably blanked out every memory of that Uwe Boll stinker (I say “Uwe Boll Stinker” as if there’s any other kind). You won’t remember Christian Slater and the wonders that movie has done for his career. That way, parents wouldn't have to chaperone their children to this treacly and barely amusing animated 3-D movie.The third installment in 20th Century Fox's popular franchise reassembles the familiar crew: husband-and-wife mammoths Manny and Ellie ( Ray Romano and Queen Latifah), the sibilant sloth Sid ( John Leguizamo), a sabre-tooth tiger oddly named Diego ( Denis Leary) and the antic possums Crash and Eddie (Seann William Scott and Josh Peck). It also introduces some much-needed new blood, but more on that later.The skimpy plot centers on Sid, who falls through a patch of ice and discovers three dinosaur eggs. Jealous that Manny and Ellie are expecting, Sid becomes foster parent to three cloyingly adorable dino-babies. But soon momzilla comes to claim them and takes Sid with her, revealing an underground world populated by creatures that even the endangered "Ice Age" gang thought were extinct.The filmmakers play to their young demographic mercilessly, with simple sight gags and cutesy baby moments. The occasional nods to adults - a Lou Rawls classic that plays during love scenes, and a riff on the Gilbert O'Sullivan nugget "Alone Again (Naturally)" - feel halfhearted.

Britney Spears was all spectacle Thursday night at the Tacoma Dome.It was an extravagant big-top show with clowns on stilts and bicycles, martial artists flipping swords and tightrope dancers bouncing high into the air. A magician even made the pop star appear then disappear. Spears also participated in stunts of her own, hanging from two dancers suspended to the ceiling.These dancers — definitely the highlight of the show — surrounded Spears in a fury of movement, hyphy, krumping, salsa, popping and bellydance. Her stage was just as flowing: all sorts of props, from couches to Spears herself, were lifted in from above.In Tacoma Spears was more animated than she's been described in earlier reviews of the "Circus" tour. With a new film documentary, Paris, Not France about the business of being Paris, a reality TV show called Paris Hilton’s My New BFF in which she goes tongue-in-cheek in search of a new best friend, her own fashion line, and a new album coming soon, Hilton, 27, is likely to be even more in the limelight over the next few months.

Already one of the most photographed women in the world, Hilton sat down with Reuters to talk about the lines between privacy and trading on her fame, and how she sees her future.

Q: What’s the most annoying misconception people have about you?

A: The one that “she doesn’t work.” I am literally running a huge corporation. I have my clothing lines, my champagne, my watches, shoes and purses and dog clothes — every sort of product you can imagine. I am doing movies. I am doing my record right now, producing, starring in a TV show. So it is a 24-hour, seven-day-a-week job. I work all the time, so I laugh when I hear people say that.

Q: Where do you draw the line between your privacy, letting the public see who you are, and the need to promote yourself.

A: I am basically always on camera. From the moment I leave my house in the morning, the paparazzi are waiting there until I go to bed at night. So it is natural to be doing this TV show. I don’t even know the cameras are there. I still have my private life. When I go home I have my pets and my boyfriend.

Q: Los Angeles city officials have been discussing proposals to curb the paparazzi, and create a “personal safety zone” between celebrities and photographers. Is that something you support?

A: Yes. It is okay for paparazzi to go to a press event or a red carpet but when it is every single day when you are going to the market or the tanning salon or to lunch with your family, it is a lot of pressure always having to be “on.” Sometimes there will be 50 or 100. They are like rats. All my cars are completely scratched up from their battery packs and cameras. They jump on your car and dent the windows.

Q; Do you actually enjoy being so famous?

A: I don’t think about it really. Since I was born, it’s been like this. Sometimes when I go to random places and I’ll be in a baseball cap with sunglasses — still people recognize me. But I try to do normal things. I like doing things myself, like going to the market or shopping. Some celebrities become famous and they forget who they are or where they came from and hide out like some recluse. I’m not going to do that.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 20 years time?

A: I’ll probably be a mom with a couple of kids. I’d love to have a big family. Running my business and not traveling so much. I’ll be in a lot of real estate businesses and hotels then. I’ll be running my business from home.

Q: What’s the first thing you think about when wake up in the morning?
